The Lock Busters

Wired has a fascinating article on a Dutch lock-picking competition. There are a lot of parallels between traditional physical security (like locks) and computer network security. My favorite quote from the article:
"People trust their lives and safety to these locks. But most locks are garbage. Look around, they're easy to open. Not knowing that doesn't make you safer." [Marc Weber Tobias, expert in locks and lock picking] rolls his eyes and waggles his head incredulously. "I mean, what do people want - security through ignorance? Wake up."
Tobias' two volume book, Locks, Safes and Security: An International Police Reference is $219.95. I'm working on a justification for buying it.
